University of Rochester School of Nursing

University of Rochester School of Nursing was established in 1925 and it has been more than 85 years that the school of nursing is striving to offer innovative studies and leadership in nursing education by reaching to new nursing education field along with traditional nursing degrees. In 1972 University of Rochester School of Nursing became full fledged independent school of nursing within the university.

Programs

The programs are designed for non-nurses with a bachelor’s degree, which makes it possible to enter nursing field and reaching next level by completing BSN, MSN, PhD and post PhD programs.

The school of nursing also offers variable learning formats that include classroom setting learning and online learning. Few classes have both classroom and online learning components, which are considered hybrid. The online learning center of Rochester School of Nursing offer students learning opportunities through all types of online course classes.

The FastTrack courses of the school, which are prerequisite courses for Accelerated Programs for Non-Nurses (APNN) are fully online. These Fast Track courses are also possible electives for the RN to BS program.

Accreditation and Registration

The school of Nursing is Registered by NY State Education Department, Professional Education and, Accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for 5 years (2008-2013), which is also highest number of years accreditation offered for the first time accreditation.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program of the school received a five-year accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) in 2010.

Middle States Commission on Higher Education has granted accreditation to The University of Rochester.

Achievements:

Among 442 numerically-scored national schools of nursing, UR School of Nursing was Ranked 32nd in 2011 by U.S. News & World Report.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding ranked UR School of Nursing 14th among 80 national schools of nursing.
