University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing

University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing was founded in 1939 and since its inception, the school has been excelling in under graduate and graduate level nursing education to prepare nursing students for complex practice and academic environments.

The credibility and standard of the school of nursing can be best judged from the fact that:

U.S. News and World Report’s Ranked it seventh “America’s Best Graduate Schools”

The school was ranked fifth in National Institutes of Health research dollars

In 2009-2010, the first time pass rate for BSN Licensure (NCLEX) was 95%.

Only school with three National Research Service Awards (NRSA) Institutional Research Training Grants (T32) grants.

Baccalaureate Program

RN Options curriculum

Master’s Program

Nurse Specialty Role Program focusing on administration, informatics or clinical nurse leader.

Clinical Nurse Specialist Program that focuses on adult medical/surgical nursing and psychiatric/mental health nursing.

Nurse Anesthesia Program a MSN degree program for becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

Nurse Practitioner offers concentration on six areas with this major including, Acute Care, Adult, Family, Neonatal, Pediatric and Psychiatric Primary Care.

Minors

Students also have the option of selecting a major within the Master’s program. They can also add a minor for a second skill set to enhance the knowledge and skills accrued from the program.  Administration, education, informatics, and research can be added as Minor.

Certificate Options

The students are offered Post-baccalaureate certificates and Credits thus earned are applied to a Master’s Degree program in the future. In addition, Post-Master’s certificates are also offered in clinical concentrations and in nurse specialty roles.

The School of Nursing also provide Distance Education to aspiring students.

The majority of the Master’s Program core courses are offered via Distance Education and each term schedule is provided to students attending the course.

DNP is accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) up to 2014 & by The Council on Accreditation (COA) to 2020
