Hawaii Board of Nursing
Board of Nursing Hawaii is part of The Professional and Vocational Licensing Division (PVL) and located at Honolulu, Hawaii. The board consists of Nine HI resident members, representing professional nursing field and public including one APRN, five RN’s, one LPN and 2 public members.
Board Meeting agendas are posted at least 6 days before the schedule of the meetings at the State Calendar. In 2011, total 12 Board Meetings are scheduled every calendar month.
Hawaii Nursing Board is very specific about the safe guard of the life and health of Hawaii Public and Citizen and accordingly the Board has implemented Statute/Rule Chapter mandating an advanced practice, RNs, and LPNs practicing for compensation must submit evidence that they are qualified to practice through the license.
Any practicing nursing professional, who is not recognized or licensed but practice or offer to practice nursing shall be deemed unlawful. The unlawful act also includes fradulant use of any sign, card, or device to indicate or imply as an advanced practice registered nurse, RN or LPN.

The Board also provides information on approved Nursing schools including 5 Baccalaureate Degree Program schools, 4 Associate Degree Program schools and 5 Practical Nursing Program schools, though information on curriculum, tuition and enquiries should be made directly to the school.
The Application for LPN and RN must be approved by the Board before eligibility to sit for the exam. Once Approval is granted, information will be provided for direct registration with testing service.
Board provides electronic testing for LPN and RN year-round. Exams in Hawaii are administered in Oahu. For further information applicant may contact www.ncsbn.org. The exam results are directly mailed within 10 working days after the exam by the Board.
