Emory University School of Nursing

Emory University School of Nursing was established in August 16, 1905 in 50 bed hospital at the Wesley Memorial Hospital Training School for Nurses at Calico House in Atlanta, GA. Initially the school was apart of the hospital. The nursing program of the school consisted of two years of practical training and some theoretical classroom instruction.


It was during 1922, the school and hospital moved to the Emory campus but in 1929 the school moved to the Florence Candler Harris Home for Nurses and in 1932, the name of the school was changed to Emory University Hospital School of Nursing.

The school again changed its name to Emory University School of Nursing in 1944 and became an independent school of the university. The school was again renamed in 1968 and incorporated the name of Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing,

Today, school graduates around 200 baccalaureate, master, and doctoral students each year and ranks among top 10 private U.S. schools of nursing. According to the U.S. News & World Report, Emory University School of Nursing is ranked 26th among overall nursing schools, ranked 8th among private schools of nursing. The graduate nurse-midwifery program of the school is ranked 7th all over America.

The school offers various types of undergraduate programs, graduate programs, Accelerate BSN/MSN program and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).


Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has offered the BSN and MSN nursing programs of the nursing schools and approval is granted by Georgia Board of Nursing.

Financial Aid

Emory University School of Nursing/ Emory University and Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing offers various types of financial aids to the deserving and qualified students, where 96% of graduate nursing students and 94% of undergraduate nursing students are recipient of the aids for advancing their studies.

The Financial Aids are divided into Merit-based Aid, Need-based Aid, Service Based Aid, and Emory Payment Plan.
