Covenant School of Nursing (CSON) was previously known as Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and is located at Lubbock, Texas. The school of nursing was established in 1918 and has the credit of being the oldest nursing school in the South Plains. More than 3,700 nurses have been graduated from the school till date.

The school is committed to graduate skilled nurses, who meet school’s commitment for excellence in nursing profession and for competent cares to patients. In order to meet the goal of the school, students are offered classroom instructions, lab skill training and clinical hands-on experience under the guidance of supportive and qualified faculties in 20 different health care facilities spread in the Lubbock area. During the entire duration of 2 year program, the students’ gets opportunity to practice hands-on experience 2 or more days every week. The completion of the program assists students to succeed as a Registered Nurse.


Covenant School of Nursing offered training programs include:

  • 2 years Diploma program for RN Licensure (hospital based)
  • An Advanced Credit program

The students are required to attend the nursing classes fully and complete skill lab training and clinical hands-on experience, and appear for the NCLEX-RN licensing exam.

The students also get opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program from Lubbock Christian University’s (LCU). The transition to the LCU offered program is completed within 3 months after the graduation from CSON. But, it is essential that students must pass NCLEX-RN exam before enrolling in LCU.

The school also have admission requirement of completing 9 prerequisite college courses by the students aiming to get enrollment for the nursing programs of the school. In addition, aspiring students aiming for the admission must posses high school diploma or GED and must pass the prerequisite test with a grade of ”C” or above in each course .


The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and the Texas Board of Nursing has granted approval and accreditation to Covenant School of Nursing.
